Global Mobile Network Operator (MNO) Uses INNSPIRE Configuration Management System
As a leading global mobile network operator (MNO) brand with 25m customers in Turkey, our client took a strategic decision to reduce network operating costs and improve customer experience. This objective was delivered with the implementation of Innovile’s INNSPIRE Configuration Management system.
INNSPIRE was implemented as a single interface to the multi-technology/vendor network covering the 11 regions of Turkey and incorporating over 80,000 sites and 420,000 cells across 2G, 3G, and 4G. The system was implemented in phases replacing a home-grown platform that could not scale with complexity and volume needs.
Workarounds using the homemade platform were diverting skilled resources to manual operational tasks, and the nature of the tool and processes led to many errors. The situation could not continue.
As an early INNSPIRE implementation phase, the Planning module gave immediate benefits by reducing planning tasks from an average of 1.5 hours to just 5 minutes at each site; saving over 100,000 man-hours of work, or around 70 FTE, per full change cycle.
With the implementation of INNSPIRE Configuration Management, we replaced internal tools and scripts as well as some network vendor management platforms. With a focus on automating much of the operational work, the client’s skilled resources were free to focus on their true mission dealing with more complex engineering scenarios.
Some custom integration work was also required to cater to unusual Transmission and Core network requirements. Combined with the out-of-the-box connectors, rich system functionality, and an expert-led agile delivery approach to operationalizing 60 modules across RAN, Core, and Transmission, the results were impressive.
Overall, operational resource effort was reduced by 90% compared to the original state, covering 36 network management functions. Massively reduced error rates combined with the powerful automation of around 60% of network configuration requirements led to sharp increases in network performance and quality. Around 15 FTE were saved in ongoing monthly activities. With a true vendor and technology-agnostic network configuration system in place, our client is now planning their 5G rollout more efficiently and confidently.
